A new home meal delivery service designed for the elderly is now available to Western Australians in the Perth area.
Easy Meals are designed for elderly people who remain at home but find shopping for food or cooking for one too much of a chore, a common problem among elderly people.
The meals are frozen in oven proof containers which are ready to reheat and have been launched by aged care provider Amana Living.
“We offer a range of meals and we’ve developed these over time based on the aged care demographic, so it offers a lot more choice and there are some diabetic sweets that we offer as well” said General Manager of Total Catering Solutions (Amana Living’s catering subsidiary) David Alcock.
He said that the meals were based on what would traditionally be seen in an aged care facility such as roast lamb and vegetables.
“We’re finding that older people are increasingly determined to continue living independently, and they want top quality, reasonably priced services at their fingertips to help them do that,” said Ray Glickman, CEO of Amana Living.
All menus are subjected to a full 30-element nutritional analysis, as well as microbiological testing in an independent laboratory.
