The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will commence rollout in Brisbane on July 1 this year, bringing relief to the 18.3 per cent of people with a disability living in Queensland’s capital (ABS 2015). Lara got her first taste of working in community care in high school, where she organised for her school to volunteer at the athletics carnival of another local school attended by children with disabilities. Seeing the children’s smiles and laughter was enough to convince her to pursue a career helping others with Just Better Care.
