Regis Welcomes Local Community to Cultural Event at Aged Care Facility

on Friday, March 24, 2017

Regis Sandringham residents recently welcomed local community members to attend a Cultural Day for all ages. The event brought residents, volunteers, staff and community members together to celebrate diversity, culture, and dance as well as raise funds for the Cancer Council’s ‘The Biggest Morning Tea’.

The Indonesian Community Victoria contributed by providing stalls for the event and Regis volunteers assisted, manning many of the stalls and providing extra support during the day.

Enthusiastic community members took the chance to enjoy the sausage sizzle as well as pet the animals that took centre stage in the courtyard from ‘Animals on the Move’.

“It was a wonderful event with great activities and energy from community visitors,” Regis Lifestyle staff commented. “Everyone enjoyed themselves with the animal farm a big hit among residents.”

“It’s great to see people come together with cultural dancers performing a traditional Thai dance. As well as a traditional Indian dance performed by Regis staff.”

Residents and staff are excited at the idea of hosting another community event as well as building stronger ties with the community, overjoyed to see the positive reaction of the community as well as see the day come together in such a seamless way.

One community member commented, “It was such a wonderful day to see visitors, residents and family members enjoy the programs from morning till the afternoon, it’s was wonderful.”
