Santa Drops in to Surprise Residents of RSL Care Inverpine

on Tuesday, December 13, 2016

RSL Care Inverpine has had a very special visitor come see them this week; both Santa and Mrs Claus have been busy bringing Christmas cheer to all the residents of the Murrumba Downs aged care site.

Both Santa and Mrs Claus, both played by volunteers, have spent the week visiting residents, distributing Christmas presents and joy.

Activities Coordinator, Rekha Singh said the resident’s absolutely love to see Santa.

“Their faces light up when he and Mrs Claus come into the room with a bag full of presents. The characters are played by our volunteers who offer invaluable support to us, especially over the Christmas period,” she said.

“We would not be able to decorate the entire site, hold Christmas parties and take them on bus trips to see Christmas lights without their help.”

The parties are also a great opportunity for the families to visit and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones.

“We go to a lot of effort to ensure the families feel welcome here. These events are made even more special by the fact that many families have been attending and even bringing children along. It makes it very special for the residents,” Rekha said.

Throughout December the residents have also been treated to wonderful concerts with performances by local artists singing Christmas Carols, dancing, playing instruments and delicious festive lunches.

RSL Care Inverpine holds many events and activities for their residents which are supported by the wonderful work of their team of dedicated volunteers. The site is home to over 250 Murrumba Downs residents and has over 130 staff and volunteers.
