TLC Aged Care Announces $34 Million Redevelopment Project

TLC Healthcare has launched a $34m redevelopment project at Homestead Estate in Wallington, east of Geelong. Homestead Estate, consisting of Homestead Lakes and The Homestead, has been providing quality residential aged care since 1991. Whilst celebrating 25 years of supporting the elderly and their families in the Wallington area, TLC took the opportunity to announce the redevelopment of Homestead Estate into a single-site 260-bed residential aged care home. 

The existing homes at the Homestead Estate site will be combined into one location and an additional 125 beds will be added to the current 135 beds. The redevelopment will also incorporate a state-of-the-art TLC Primary Care medical centre, a dedicated day respite facility, a rehabilitation gymnasium and hydrotherapy pool. The new home will also boast modern interiors, a café and expansive outdoor areas, some measuring over 1,000m2.

CEO of TLC Healthcare, Lou Pascuzzi, announced the redevelopment project whilst celebrating the 25th anniversary of Homestead Estate with the residents and their families. “I am delighted to formally launch this exciting project that will revolutionise aged care in the Geelong area. This home will offer the latest innovations in facilities and services, in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting. The redevelopment will also contribute to jobs growth in the region.

“Once completed, Homestead Estate will be the largest residential aged care home in Victoria offering the benefits of co-located aged care and primary care that are unique to TLC. TLC has been pioneering this model at five of our existing aged care homes with great success. The redevelopment of Homestead Estate is valued at $34m and construction is planned to commence in March 2017.
