Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice is the Recipe for Mercy Health’s Big Cake Bake

on Friday, October 28, 2016

Sugar, spice and everything nice will be Mercy Place Mont Clare residents’ secret recipe for success when they take on the Red Cross Big Cake Bake today.

As part of the Big Cake Bake, thousands of people across Australia will host morning teas and bake sales, to help ‘bake the world a better place’ by fundraising for the Red Cross to continue its everyday work in a range of areas, including assisting remote communities to recover from disasters and working with elderly Australians who are isolated and alone.

Mercy Place Mont Clare Service Manager, Janelle McFarlane, said residents were excited to come together in the kitchen to use some of their special family recipes and to help ‘bake the world a better place’.

“Simply by baking some treats and sitting down to enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake together, our residents are looking forward to making a real difference to the lives of people who really need a helping hand,” Ms McFarland said.

“Our seniors are really chuffed by the prospect of being able to contribute in a meaningful way to support people who are less fortunate, although there may be a little competition in the kitchen when our residents put on their aprons to prove whose secret family cake recipes are the tastiest!”
