RSL Care Fernhill transformed into a Winter Wonderland

The Day Therapy Centre at RSL Care Fernhill was transformed into a Winter Wonderland to the delight of the respite clients for their annual winter celebrations last month. 

Clients were treated to live music, dancing, scrumptious food, games and raffles while the staff went to every effort to beautifully decorate the room and even dressed up for the party.

The Day Therapy Centre’s Diversional Therapist Alma Massie explained that parties such as this one are important to the respite clients.

“The parties give them something special to look forward to, they really enjoy the social interaction, music and especially getting up and having a dance,” she said.

One respite client Brian was up dancing for nearly every song and recalled a love for dancing in his youth.

“I used to go to dancing in the city with my wife every Friday night and on special occasions we would go up to Cloudland,” he said.

“I love the fact that they play the music from my time and I can get up and relive that experience, where else could I do this?”

The Day Therapy Centre provides vital day respite services to both the residents of the Fernhill Retirement Village and the greater Caboolture community.

The centre offers a range of different services from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, massage and diversional therapy while being a safe, friendly and welcoming space.
