Australia’s Oldest Intern has the ‘Best Job’ Ever

At 78 years young, Ken Holmes from Victoria is showing the world it’s never too late to learn.

After spending 10 years in retirement, Ken decided to go back to work because he “got tired of talking to a cat and dog at home. They won’t talk back to me!”

Mr Holmes has taken on an internship as an administration assistant at Mercy Place Aged Care in Parkville.

“It’s quite interesting. It shows a different side of the way the world works in aged care,” he said.

Mr Holmes loves getting to know the residents and say it’s definitely “one of the best jobs” he’s ever had.

He said his late wife Beatrice would have supported his decision to return to work after all these years and would have said to him, “You’re happy doing it? Keep it going, don’t give it up.”
