Bethanie Waters Hosts Memorial Service for Departed Residents

on Thursday, November 26, 2015

Bethanie, Western Australia’s largest not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider, hosted a memorial service to pay respects to departed residents, on Wednesday 25th November, at Bethanie Waters newly built Memorial Garden.

To accompany this memorial service, the Bethanie Waters Memorial Garden was officially opened to residents and family members wishing to visit the serene new site.

The idea for the Memorial Garden was raised in a residents’ meeting 18 months ago. Chaplain Barry Austin, then formed a small committee to research the idea and presented a proposal to Bethanie, who were only too happy to action the request.

Bethanie Chaplain, Barry Austin, tells, “The memorial garden was a fantastic project to honour the departed residents and clients from Bethanie Waters.

Mr Austin continues, “The memorial service was a fantastic opportunity for family members and friends, along with residents and staff, to come down and remember loved ones and be apart of the service.”

Construction of the Bethanie Waters Memorial Garden began in September 2015 and has taken months of intensive work to complete.

Bethanie Waters resident, Arthur Hey, donated a hand-made leather bound Memorial Book that has been placed in the main Boulevard of the village, which contains the names of residents, staff and volunteers who have passed away since the home opened in 2004.

Norm Hogg, a Bethanie Waters’ Lifestyle Village resident, has also kindly donated a beautifully handcrafted table to hold the Memorial Book. A number of individual donors have contributed funds for the project, including local store, Bob Jane T Mart.
